| What is a Miniature/Bantam Bulldog? |
| I can only answer for myself and my breeding program. Our bulldogs are a composite of various bulldog breeds and crosses used to bring out the best and forgotten traits missing in todays modern day AKC Bulldog. We strive to keep the same looks (phenotype) while working on recreating a healthy, self sufficient bulldog again. This is accomplished by reworking the genotype. The new twist is that we prefer a smaller version. Our goals are to have females giving birth as the norm, and C sections rare and only in emergency cases. We want a self sustaining breed, one that the pair can breed on their own with little to no assistance. Producing females that love and want to care for their young. No more removing pups and having to clean them and keep them separate from the dam, because she does not know how nor want to care for them. We have also added some more colors as we feel a bulldog is no different than any other breed allowing all colors and patterns , thus the "Amitola Bulldog" Here are the size basics , although there can still be variations in size vs weights. These are the average and desired goals of our particular program in breeding the best Bulldogs. The standard Olde English Bulldogge states 18-20 inches measured at the shoulder. The English Bulldog states about 50lbs for males, and height must be no taller than circumference of the head. The other sizes are only recognized informally. Our Bulldogges are registered by the World Bulldogge Alliance. Here are the three sizes we are developing.: Standard (Titan)18-20inches, Bantam 16 inches & under, Miniature 14 inches & under. Mini's can weigh up to 38 lbs. (some do carry more weight)Standard 50lbs and up. Some breedings do produce smaller sizes. If you definitely want a certain size, it's best to purchase an adult. Until a total line has been mini or for three or more generations and not produced any standards, then we can not guarantee the pups' sizes as adults. Until that time, we prefer to suggest the size (based on the size as a pup and the size of the parents). Only the purchase of an adult can guarantee the size of an adult dog. When giving s size estimate it is only that and not a guarrantee at this time. See some examples below of Minis and Bantams. |
